About the Digitization of South Carolina Newspapers
Thanks to National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) funding and support from the Library of Congress from 2009-2015,  the University of South Carolina Libraries digitized over 300,000 pages and 100 historical South Carolina newspaper titles, ranging in dates from 1836 to 1922.  Since then, the University of South Carolina has continued to digitize and make available  SC newspapers from all over the state. Almost all of these papers were scanned from the microfilm.  You can find all of the digitized pages on the Historical South Carolina Newspapers Database and a portion of those at the Library of Congress' Chronicling America web site.
