Libraries on Campus

  • Thomas Cooper Library
    Main library on the University of South Carolina Campus
  • Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library
    Enter through the Thomas Cooper Library. This library houses Rare Books and Special Collections which has strengths in literature, the history of the book, and natural history. The South Carolina Political Collections documents South Carolina politics in the post-World War II era.
  • Music Library
    Located on the second and third levels of the School of Music, holdings include books, scores, journals, sound recordings, videos, and DVDs.
  • Moving Image Research Collections
    Located at 707 Catawba Street, holdings include Fox Movietone News reels, television news, home movies, micro-cinematographic nature films, and documentary films from the People's Republic of China.
  • South Caroliniana Library
    Located on the horseshoe, this library collects material relating specifically to South Carolina. Divisions include manuscripts, published materials, and university archives.
  • Law Library
    Located in the School of Law, this is the largest law library in South Carolina. You must be a School of Law student to check out materials from this library.

Thomas Cooper Library Amenities

Laptops can be checked out from the Technology Lounge on level 5 for use throughout the building.  The Technology Lounge is also where you will find scanners.

Coopers Corner Cafe is located on the main floor and refreshments include gourmet coffee, espressos, lattes, hot chocolate, teas, bottled water, sodas, chips, sandwiches, cookies and brownies, and more.

Wireless network available on all floors of the library. The Cooper Technology Lounge located on level 5 can assist with wireless network questions.

Levels 1, 2, and 3 are designated "Quiet Floors".

Printing, both black & white and color, is available.  You must have your Carolina Card to print.
