Update: This program is currently unavailable as it changes management to the Division of Information Technology via the Carolina Tech Zone.
In collaboration with the Provost Office and The Division of Information Technology (DoIT), the University Libraries are able to distribute select devices for an entire semester. This program is designed specifically for students that are in financial need and do not have access to the technology to help them in their coursework. UofSC faculty and staff are not eligible to borrow devices from the Provost Loan Program, but are eligible to borrow from the University Libraries Loan Program.
*Devices in Provost Loan Program are limited and are only available on a first-come first-served basis.
The following devices are available in the Provost Loan Program:
Dell Laptops are available per semester. Borrowers will have need to setup an account and install needed applications at their own discretion.
Major issues should be taken to the Carolina Tech Zone. If the Carolina Tech Zone deems the device to be in need of replacement, the borrower should return the device to the Library Technology Lounge help desk for replacement.
We highly recommend using an online storage solution to save your data to as hardware issues may arise unexpectedly. Neither the University Libraries nor Division of Information Technology are responsible for lost data.
Logitech B525 webcams are available per semester.
Devices in this loan program belong to the University of South Carolina are provided to you on loan. Therefore, the student, by borrowing from this loan program agrees to the following:
Items loaned from the Provost Loan program can be renewed after the due date has lapsed by at least one day. This is only possible if the borrower is enrolled for the following semester or academic year. Borrowers not registered will have an expiration date on their accounts and will not be able to borrow or renew past the due date.
Items may be renewed by logging into the borrowers library account.
