Filters

What filters appear, how they are labeled, the order of appearance and having a facet open (displaying some of the options) or closed are customizable.

Availability

We configured it so that if you search in the PASCAL Delivers scope,

the physical items are restricted to our collection.

The default label was "Held by Library." We chose to be specific and differentiate

physical/print materials and be explicit about whose materials.

We've chosen these filters, in this order, and in a few cases changed the default label.  Accession, Local Notes, Local Subject were specially created.

There's a limit to how many values can display under a filter.  The options under a filter are first ranked by number of results. A library decides if a filter's values display in alphabetical order (ex. Resource Type, Library, Location) or numeric (ex. Subject, Language). Depending on your search, you may need to exclude some choices in order to see others.  Location is a good example of this. Search history. What do you have to do for Columbia Cooper Popular Reading-Main Level to show as a Location?

You can opt to include or exclude certain facet.  It's easier to do than to read about doing

For each facet that you want to include / exclude, hover over the facet and then:

Include facet Select the check box on the left side of the facet.
Exclude facet

Hover over the value and then click the icon on the right side of the facet to mark it for exclusion.

To exclude more than one at a time, check off the box on the left side and then click on the exclude icon. Once you've excluded one in a group you can click on the exclude icon for subsequent choices.

Click Apply Filters to filter your results. The selected facets will appear in the Active filters section

Note:  Results will vary depending on whether you apply all filter choices at once or individually.

You can also retain your choices by locking them so they persist during subsequent searches. To make a facet persistent, hover the cursor over the facet in the Active filters section and then click the facet's padlock PadlockIcon.png or click  "Remember all filters"
