Getting Started with Data Visualization

Data visualization support may be desired at any stage of your research process. The University Libraries offers resources and services that may be useful in meeting your data visualization needs. 

How the University Libraries can assist?

We are available to assist in a variety of ways:

  • Consultations (online or in-person)
    • We can provide guidance for discovering information about data visualization and discovering online tutorials about data visualization and data vis tools.
    • We can work with you to help you decide on appropriate and effective visualization techniques
    • We can help you consider, compare, and determine which tool(s) to use
    • We can discuss with you methods for cleaning data for visualization
  • Workshops (online or in-person)
    • General data visualization knowledge, concepts, and considerations
    • Data visualization tools such a Tableau, Power BI, Visualization with R, Visualization with Python
    • Data wrangling and cleanup
  • DataLab
    • Space located in Thomas Cooper Library 
    • 3 high-powered Windows computers with data analysis and visualization software
    • 80" shareable TV screen for viewing
