Federal Data Availability
Many previously accessible open federal datasets may no longer be available online or may be difficult to find. As government website content changes, this guide lists resources that provide access to data. This guide is being actively updated. If you are aware of resources that should be added, please contact University Libraries' Digital Research Services at digres@mailbox.sc.edu.

- CDC DataContains CDC datasets uploaded as of January 28th, 2025. Excludes corrupt datasets and data not publicly accessible.
- Census ReporterUnaffiliated with the US Census Bureau, Census Reporter is a project of the American Community Survey (ACS).
- DataLumosMaintained by ICPSR, DataLumos is a crowdsources archive of social science government data resources.
- Internet ArchiveA nonprofit library of archived websites.
- Source Cooperative - Data.gov MirrorA regularly updated mirror of Data.gov, the US federal government data finding and storage site.
Government Website Archives
- End of Term ArchiveCaptures US government websites at the end of presidential administrations. Data is preserved from changes in administration from 2008-2020.
- Internet ArchiveA nonprofit library of archived websites.
- Gov WayBack MachineAccess historical versions of U.S. government websites with a simple URL change.
- Source Cooperative - Data.gov MirrorA regularly updated mirror of Data.gov, the US federal government data finding and storage site.
Data Sources for the USC Community
- ICPSRThe Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Science Research is a data repository providing access to deposited data to member institutions, including USC.
- Policy MapData and mapping application that includes demographics, housing, crime, health, jobs, and more at all common geographies (e.g., block group, census tract, zip code, etc.)
- Sage Data This link opens in a new windowHuge collection of U.S. and international statistics and datasets. Includes data analysis tools and customizable data visualizations.
- Social Explorer This link opens in a new windowAn online demographic research tool that allow users to visually explore hundreds of thousands of data indicators across demography, economy, health, religion, crime and more.
