  • You can change Anywhere to Anywhere except full text - NOFT which will search all indexed fields which includes Subject terms and the Abstract. You can also select to search just the Abstract.
  • There is not one right way!  Explore different options to find what works best for you.

Search Tip: Subject Terms

Example of subject terms

  • One key feature of discipline-specific databases like Sociological Abstracts is the use of subject terms.
  • Subject terms are descriptive words assigned to an article, representing controlled vocabulary that describes the item's subject or main themes. Articles on similar topics are grouped under specific subject headings, ensuring they are not scattered across various synonyms or searches.
  • Take note of the subject terms related to your search and use them to refine your search terms.
