My Library Card

Sign in to view My Library Card.  "Sign in" always present in upper right corner of the screen. Library Card is found under Menu in the header.

The My Account / Renew link on the library homepage takes you directly there.

My Library Card includes:

Overview – Displays a summary of each of the tabs to allow you to see if any action is required.
Loans – Current and outstanding loans.
Requests – Current requests not yet fulfilled
Fines & Fees – Current fees and fines.
Blocks & Messages – Displays all general messages and any blocks that may prevent you from
accessing services in the library.
Personal Details – You can tailor the user interface so that it reflects the way you usually search.

NOTE: Multiple institutions (other PASCAL Libraries) will be displayed on left side if patron has current or past lending activity (PASCAL Delivers requests) with other institutions.

Using My Library Card (Ex Libris Knowledge Center)

Request: Internal (from our collections)

Sign-in with your USC network username and password in order to see the request options.

The system is configured to recognize some requesting limits.

The only option for a book in the Thomas Cooper Library Reference collection is to request pages through Scan and Deliver

The Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections allows patrons to request their materials, but items will be delivered to the Reading Room in the Hollings Library and can be used there.  Remind people they will also want to make an appointment to use the requested materials in the Reading Room.

This book, Graphic novels and comics in libraries: Essays on readers, research and history and cataloging is held by other PASCAL Delivers libraries, but our users cannot request a print copy from elsewhere because all holdings are on the same record and we have the book.

For a different title, it's possible there may be more than one record for it.  Search in PASCAL Delivers. That's the case with They were there: The story of World War II and how it came about. A USC student, faculty or staff could request a copy if they select a record that doesn't have our holdings.

The South Caroliniana Library manages patron requests.  There are not request options on records held by the  South Caroliniana Library (unless copies are also held in other USC, Columbia library locations).  See for yourself, Magic marker mustache mayhem and other true stories.  Patrons wanting to use the materials must contact South Caroliniana Library directly.

PASCAL Delivers Requests

After placing a request, the user gets an on screen confirmation message that the request was submitted.  It still needs to be processed and requires some human intervention. If the first library receiving the request isn't able to fulfill it, the request is passed to another library if there are others.  If you work with the public, tell people to be on the look out for an email from the lending library when the book is available to be picked up wherever the patron requested.

How requests appear can be confusing.  Pick up: refers to the location where the patron wants the book to be delivered.  It does NOT mean it is ready to be picked up!

If patrons have questions about ID required to be able to check out the book, refer them to the pickup location library.

When a request is ready to be picked up a clipboard icon appears next to the loaning library.  All libraries a user has borrowed from appear in the list, so it's a good idea to use the funnel filter and change it to "Has Activity" instead of All Institutions.  This user has two requests that haven't been fulfilled yet.

Renewing

Do you want to renew all the loans from a single location at once? The loans that appear by default are those from the user's home library.  Display loans by clicking on the loaning library (institution column to the left) and then either Renew all or select individual titles.

To select particular titles to renew, under the Loans tab (for the loaning library), you could still Renew All or click on Renew for the individual title.
